Mary Ann Farmer, President and CEO of Magna-Tel, Inc., received the prestigious Women of Distinction Award at the Counselor Awards hosted by the Advertising Specialty Institute (ASI) on July 10, 2007 in Chicago, IL.
ASI gives this award annually to a woman who has distinguished herself through her impact in the promotional products industry, with her creative ideas, admirable leadership skills and remarkable ability to balance work and life.
Farmer served as Vice Chair of Finance on the Board of Directors for the Promotional Products Association and Treasurer for the Promotional Products Mentoring Network and the Promotional Products Education Foundation. She also assisted with the founding of a mentoring program, Woman’s Leadership Conference, and developed an internal educational program for her employees that has set an industry standard for certification.
In addition, she has logged thousands of hours volunteering on numerous boards, committees and task forces in the promotional products industry and in the community.
Farmer was also one of six women named to the Counselor Power 50 in December 2006, which recognizes the 50 most influential leaders within the industry. Farmer has been employed with Magna-Tel since 1984.
Magna-Tel Inc. is entering its 48th year as a promotional products supplier and continues to be a recognized leader in the industry. Magna-Tel received recognition in June from Promotional Marketing Magazine as being one of the top three magnetic promotional products suppliers.
